We land on the beaches of Normandy to visit Deauville, home to the legendary Casino de Deauville. We discover how the French invented roulette, black jack and baccarat, and learn the differences between the French and American games. The casino is draped on either side by spectacular hotels, the Hotel Royal and the Hotel Normandy, all owned by the Lucien Barriere Group of European Resorts. Just outside the grounds, tourists can experience the Le Plange or Boardwalk where you can find cabanas on the beach named after celebrities who have visitied for the annual American Film Fesival.
Although, France is known for being rude to Americans, this is not the case in Deauville because they rememeber D-Day. We meet a soldier visiting the historic place where he almost lost his life.
Deauville is also home to many kinds of horse racing and it is not uncommon to find the horses and jockeys walking through the streets like they own the place.
Deauville is a spectacular city in France full of history and beauty and a must when you visit the country.
